I heard about Backpack Buddies on the news and then signed up to be a monthly donor. To me, it’s really important to support families in my local community.
My spouse and I both grew up on the North Shore and we live here now.
I think people assume that because North Vancouver is a more affluent neighbourhood that there aren’t people struggling here. The reality is that there are a lot of people who are living paycheck to paycheck every month in this community. There are a lot of families—a lot of kids—who need help.
Having food for the weekend for the kids from Backpack Buddies is one less thing for a struggling family to worry about.
While my spouse and I don’t have kids of our own, I can imagine how stressful it would be for a parent, or a caregiver like an aunty or grandparent to not be able to put food on the table for a growing child. It would be so hard. I give monthly to make life a little easier for those families.

For just $100 per month, you can provide a child with meals and snacks to last them the weekend and beyond — every weekend.
